If you carefully notice, the picture shown here is of a protein with two identical subunit and EACH subunit consist of two alpha helices of equal turn joined together. Each alpha helices has 7 turns. As a rule of thumb, one turn of an alpha helix contains 3.6 aminoacid residues. Therefore,

CALCULATION:

Molecular weight of each subunit is= 2 (# of helices) x 7 (# of turns per helices)x 3.6 (# of aminoacids per turn) x 110 (avg. molecular weight of an aminoacid) =5544 Da or 5.54 kDa
