Which functional group do you think might present the biggest challenge for a procurement department from the teamwork perspective? Why do you think that?
I feel, Quality function poses the biggest challenge for Procurement department from teamwork perspective. The Quality function has different set of priorities from Procurement. The Procurement focuses on reducing the cost of material by introducing new vendor in to the system, negotiating of product parameters to bring down cost and streamline supplies for timely delivery. The Quality function has to ensure that suppliers fulfill all the Quality requirement irrespective of cost of operation. They set up stringent parameters which supplier needs to adhere and it may delay the supplies. Also, due to strict norms, suppliers get disqualified and not able to supply at time. Thus, impacting the Procurement department regard to material connectivity. So, the difference in priority is the key hurdle between two functions.
