Question

A conducting square frame with a side a 10 cm is placed on a horizontal desk. A de current of 2 A (supplied by some external source) flows around the frame in the counterclockwise direction. A constant and spatially uniform external magnetic field B = 0.25 T is applied in the upward vertical direction. (a) Calculate and draw the forces acting on each of the edges of the frame. Be sure to clearly indicate the directions of these forces. (b) What is the torque acting on the frame? If the direction of the magnetic field (but not the magnitude) can vary, for what direction(s) will the torque be maximized?
