What is the equation for calculating the cfu/ g soil?

We used 1g soil and diluted it in 9mL of water --> is considered to be our 10-1 dilution. --> dilution factor is 10

We plated 0.1 mL of this 10-1 solution onto an agar plate.

Can I use following equation to calculate the cfu/ g soil (density is neglected):

cfu/g soil=(no.of colonies x dilution factor)/(volume of culture plate)

cfu/g soil =( 30 cfu x 10) / 0.1 mL = 3000 cfu/ g soil

Ans. CFU is the colony forming unit which we can calculate using the given formula :-

CFU/g soil= no. of colonies x dilution factor / volume of culture plated

Cfu/g = 30x 10/0.1ml= 3000cfu/g.

It is correct.

If further you have to calculate it for 5g or so, then you will have to multiply the result came for 1g with 5 or so on.
