Answer #1

Answer: Tristan da Cunha is a strato-volcano found in the Atlantic Ocean. When the South American and African continental plates moved away from each other (divergent boundary), they gave rise to the mid-Atlantic Ridge formed by a “gap” in the crust from where magma erupted and formed new crust causing seafloor spreading.

A mantle plume rose into the crust here and formed the Walvis hotspot. This hotspot erupted with violent eruptions to form the strato-volcano Tristan da Cunha.
