Let us make a score card for purchasing a new house.

First list out the criteria and thought process for developing criteria -

1. Location of house - High score for the location where there is good community , cleanliness and view from the property and vice versa.
2. Quality of construction of house - High score for very good quality of construction, good quality of raw material used, branded fittings in bathrooms and bedrooms, effective drainage system and vice versa
3. Pricing - High score for compatible or moderate pricing with respect to market pricing
4. Transport options to and fro - High score for transportation means available near by for offices, school or market places and to other cities or states etc.
5. Living, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom spaces - Higher scores to spaces available as per the requirement and best suitable framework for e.g. a joint family will need bigger kitchen and living area.
6. Parking - Higher scores for comfortable and easily approachable parking lot.
7. Natural light in house - Higher marks to the place where there is ample amount of natural lights.
8. Storage - Higher score to an ample storage area to sort your very rarely used items or defective broken equipments.
9. Noise - A low noise or no noise area will fetch higher scores
10. Market nearby - Nearby market place which reduces the effort, transportation cost and full fill immediate requirements will fetch higher scores.

The above criteria can be scored from 1 to 10 as per details above.

Now to analyze the scoring model we can assume if score is -

• 0-39 Reconsider the option
• 40-60 Look other options as well
• 60-69 Could have been better
• 70-79 Good option
• 80-89 Great option
• 90-100 Should go for it.
