Answer #1

I believe that human life should be saved over non-human life (dog) even if that person does not deserve to be saved. If it was my own pet, I would have saved my pet over that person any day. Therefore, I would save the person over the dog from a burning building. (Also, because a near-death experience changes people.)

3.) Now it gets weird. This time, trapped in the burning building are a dog and a brain-dead person. By brain-dead, I mean a person who has no mental experiences at all - no thoughts, no memories, no experiences of pain or pleasure, and who you know will not recover. So, a person biologically alive, but who will never again have mental experiences, whether or not you save him or her from the burning building. And assume that should you...

1.) This one is easy (maybe). A person and a dog are trapped in a burning building, and you can save one and only one. Assume that helping one of the two will not significantly imperil you - you'll get out of the building just fine as well. Who should be saved?

Passage A Not only are there cases in which torture is morally permissible, but sometimes it may be morally required. Suppose the police had someone in custody whom you suspected of having information that could help stop a plan to unleash a weapon of mass destruction upon a metropolitan area. Nothing should be prohibited in the attempt to get the needed information—not even torture. After all, we expect the police to do whatever is within their power to save an...

Now pretend that it is 2005 and you just graduated from college, got married, and landed an entry-level job in one of the booming economies of Southern California, Nevada, or Florida. You like your apartment but keep reading about low interest rate home loans that are available to people who have not saved up the “old-fashioned” 20% down payment. You also vividly remember messages from your childhood telling you that renting is a waste of money because it does not...

Now imagine yourself listening intently to each of the clients quoted below. First use the “You feel . . . because . . .” formula; then use your own words. Try to make the second response sound as natural (as much like yourself) as possible. After you use your own words, check to see if you have both a “you feel” part and a “because” part in your response. Case 1. A 28-year-old woman is talking about her job with...

Now let's try a normal distribution. The first plot will be easy, but the second will be more difficult to do, so follow the instructions carefully. First we'll plot a standard normal, then we'll see what happens if you change the parameters. x <- seq (-3.291, 3.291, length.out=100) gives us 100 equally spaced values of x between -3.291 and 3.291. “seq” let's us generate a sequence of numbers, and “length.out” tells us how many numbers we want in the sequence....

A study was done to investigate what people think is "creepy." Each person in a sample of women and a sample of men were asked to do the following. Imagine a close friend of yours whose judgment you trust. Now imagine that this friend tells you that she or he just met someone for the first time and tells you that the person was creepy. The people in the samples were then asked whether they thought the creepy person was...

Read below article and respond to it Laive opinion)?7 We both know the risk of having an abortion, like pelvic infections, blood clots or scar tissue in the uterus, and even an incomplete abortion" (Heisenberg). Although I know, you have said you are not ready to have the responsibility of a young person at this time. I believe you should look at a different option, but of the risk that comes with abortion. We can look at foster care and...

I’ve been taking my whole family to the Natonal Hospital and Health Care Center for Academic and Medical Excellence for years now! I expect nothing but the very best care, and that’s what we have always received. That’s why I’m especially shocked at what happened last month! My mother-in-law suffered a fall leaving her weekly bridge game. We were very concerned, so we packed her up and brought her in to the E.R. for evaluation and treatment. While testing, they...
