  • Streptococcus pyogenes is a gram-positive bacteria.
  • The bacteria are responsible for the necrotizing soft tissue, it enters into the body via minor scrape or a cut, so also known as flesh-eating bacteria or strep.
  • It causes a severe infection that causes systemic toxicity.
  • The bacteria endotoxins (form pores), superantigens, and proteases (peptidases) with cell lysing activity and immunomodulatory functions (stimulation of the release of immunomodulatory cytokines).
  • The release of proinflammatory cytokines causes the muscle infection which is primary for the removal of bacteria.
