Materials properties are highly dependent on Atomic and molecular structure as atomic structures decide the type of lattice bonding and strength of the material. For example, highly electronegative elements prefer to form ionic bonds with electropositive elements whereas if the difference of electronegativity is not so high then covalent characters of bond predominate. The specific arrangement of molecules is termed as crystal lattice. The crystal lattice is solely responsible for different mechanical and chemical properties such as corrosive and non-corrosive tendencies, strength, mechanical properties like hardness, toughness, stiffness rigidity etc. The microstructural features like porosity, morphology and crystal structures are attributed to its usefulness in vivid engineering applications. It is cited that closed packed structures like hcp have different chemical nature than bcc and fcc molecules. Similarly, the atomic nature of elements is responsible for linking and nucleation of polymers. Cross linking polymers has higher mechanical strength than normal polymers. Similarly, small change of crystallinity of polymers shows synergistic effect on material properties. That indicates the significance of molecular and atomic structure on materials properties irrespective of it's state. All materials whether it is ceramics, metal or polymers are highly influenced by molecular structure of the monomer units.
