There are different conditions in the workplace that are most likely cause union organization. The first condition is the poor working conditions such as unhygienic and unsafe work environment, in that the workers are forced to work, without support of medical facilities. The second condition is the huge deviation in compensations, benefits and treatment given to the workers, causing inequality and leading the workers to form union that can help go for the collective bargaining. The third condition is the oppressive and non-cooperative policies of the management while not implementing the government mandated policies. It initiates the agitation and becomes the basis of the union organizing campaign.
Union membership will decrease in the years to come, because organizations now make more employee friendly policies, implement efficient wage theories and pay over and above the market wage rate. Besides, organizations are coming up different innovative benefits and employee welfare programs where the employees do not need to become the member of a union to get the jobs. So, significance of union and its membership will decreasing in coming years to come.
