ANS) In order to make a clone of my favourite pet, I would use the (d) inner cell mass. As it is the inner cell mass, which forms the entire organism from the zygote, including all the 3 germ layers and all the organs present inside the body.

After fertilisation, the ova and the sperm fuses to form a zygote. The zygote multiples and forms a 58 cell stage known as the blastocyst. Blastocyst contains 53 cells in the periphery known as the trophoblast and 5 cells towards one side of the blastocyst known as the inner cell mass.

This inner cell mass forms all the germ layer and all parts of the fetus.

The world's first cloned pet, the kitten CC (a play on the words Copy Cat and Carbon Copy) was the result of a nuclear transfer experiment in which the nucleus from the diploid somatic cells of a female calico cat named Rainbow was injected into an egg (from an unnamed donor cat) whose own nucleus had been removed previously (similar to the "Three Parent Baby" experiment described in Lecture 12). The reconstituted egg was then implanted into the uterus...
