Answer #1

The earliest hominids/humans became resource affluent by living mostly by the sea. Nutritional, ecological and ethnographic evidence indicates that fish would be a seasonally available, nutritious and easy to procure alternative food source for early hominids, particularly during periods when other food sources may be of poor quality.

The Homo erectus were the first to eat freshwater fish. Almost 2 million years ago  homo erectus began food such as crocodiles, turtles and fish, which may have been the catalyst for brain development and humanity's first steps out of Africa.
