The chi square test is used to test if there is any association between the processes and the quality of the units produced

The null hypothesis assumes that there is no association and the two entities are independent.

Thus Option 1 and Option 3 both indicate the same meaning as required by the null hypothesis.

Hence, Option 4 which considers both Options 1 and 3 is the correct option

Answer : (Option 4)

Both Ho: The number of defectives produced is independent of the production process used and Ho: The proportion of defective units produced by the three production processes is the same are correct or at least acceptable wats of stating the null hypothesis.
