Using your place of work or any organization you are familiar with; discuss how the arrangement of work or the job design in your organizations can result in conflicts.
The arrangement of work can result in conflict when the superior-subordinate relationship is not clear and employees are ambiguous about who to report. Unclarity regarding how much authority does a particular person at certain position hold over the other person can become a source of conflict. Conflicts in job design will thus take place in case the authority-responsibility is not established properly and clearly which might be due not laying down enough demarcation between the job positions resulting in employees violating commands and breed disagreements, arguments and fights. In my organisation the amount of power one can exercise over the other is not clear as the supervisor almost shares the same rank as that of the employees which sometimes results in non compliance and thus becoming a reason of conflict. The another major reason of poor job design which can result in conflicts is the lacking of unity of command which makes the employees report to more than one boss. The lack of common direction gives rise to various evils in my workplace such as bias, favouritism, etc as employees find it difficult to comply with multiple heads and thus agree with only those who provide them with some benefits thus becoming the reason of conflict.
Poor job design inside my workplace does not promote coordination, interdependence and teamwork among the workforce and most if the times individuals work individually and only show concern to their personal interests , which increases the chances of conflict in the workplace in case the interests of employees clash and disagreements take place due to the unmanaged differences in opinions.
