Discrimination against transgender and gender-nonconforming people increases the likelihood of social alienation, homelessness, financial instability, substance use HIV vulnerability, psychological distress and many other vulnerabilities. The African American transgender communities should also strive to address issues related to employment discrimination by employers. If a transgender person is fired for being a transgender they must be allowed to file a complaint and receive the appropriate damages. There are still many countries that still discriminate against the transgender community. The struggle of the black transgender community for social justice must also work on the issues that it faces when it comes to the education system. The black transgender population is facing issues when it comes to finding employment. The unemployment rate of black transgender people is very high compared to the rest of the general population and this means that many transgender people are working at low wages and even being paid less than those of their fellow counterparts. The struggle of the black transgender community for social justice must also continue to work on addressing the problems that it faces when it comes to employment, education and health. This means that the transgendered community must address the lack of social acceptance.
