is supply chain management or marketing channel management more important when it comes to adding "Place" value to the marketing mix? Why?
In supply chain management it is more important to add place value to the marketing mix because place in marketing mix is concerned with the moving of products from the producer to the customer. The use of the right place by a company can increase the sales and profit for long time. Giving importance and adding value to the place is considered with the right location in the business process and involving management of the product storage, transportation, order processing and stock recording. Place in the marketing mix ensures that the product is distributed and available conveniently for the consumer at the right location and at the right time, this is the reason why it is given importance. If the customer comes into the stores for purchasing a product that product must be readily available without any issue. Whenever the customers are faced with the issue involving the availability of the product at the physical location it is almost certain that this will take the business in the wrong direction and will account for loss for the business. For example if a customer is going for a morning walk and is looking to buy a packet of milk and bread and if the stock is not available at that physical location this opportunity is totally lost for the retailer and it cannot be generated again because this is a lost opportunity and it cannot be recovered. So it becomes extremely important for companies to make the product available at the right physical location and continuously check the stock, so that the demand by the customers can never be unfulfilled.
