Humanistic perspective in psychology evolved in the middle of the 20th century that focused on the human potential and human ability to achieve excellence and self-actualization through one’s own effort. This would mean that it seeks to understand and accept people as they are without discriminating and judging them. It applies a concept called unconditional positive regard and promoting the change in agreement with the person by helping individuals overcome their past. Abraham Maslow with his need hierarchy theory and Carl Rogers with his Client Centered Therapy are the two most prominent contributors of this perspective. It differs from person, group and cultures because it treats each one as unique and different thus, it would employ the best possible solution that is appropriate to the person, group or culture.
