Lipids are more reduced form of carbon then carbohydrate. Complete oxidation of 1 g of fat can produce 40 KJ or 9.3 KCal energy while oxidation of 1g of starch produces 15.8 KJ or 9.3 KCal.
So in some seeds lipids are stored. During germination, oil containing seeds metabolize stored triacylglycerols by converting lipids to sucrose . This is because the plants are not able to transport fats from endosperm to root and shoot . Hence they convert lipids to mobile form of carbon I e., sucrose.
