Answer #1

Ans 22 ) using excel>addin>phstat>two sample tets

we have

F Test for Differences in Two Variances
Data
Level of Significance 0.05
Larger-Variance Sample
Sample Size 7
Sample Variance 17029.33333
Smaller-Variance Sample
Sample Size 8
Sample Variance 5360.5
Intermediate Calculations
F Test Statistic 3.1768
Population 1 Sample Degrees of Freedom 6
Population 2 Sample Degrees of Freedom 7
Two-Tail Test
Upper Critical Value 5.1186
p-Value 0.1561
Do not reject the null hypothesis

the null and alternative hypothesis is

Ho:\sigma_1^2=\sigma_2^2

Ha:\sigma_1^2\neq \sigma_2^2

the variance of denver (s12) =17029.333

the variance of denver (s22) =5360.5

F = s_1^2/ s_2^2

F = 17029.33/ 5360.5

F = 3.1768

p value =0.1561

Since p value is greater than 0.05 so we reject Ho and conclude that variance are not equal
