Although many companies use data extensively to attract customers and optimize their operations. But one company that would be considered here is McDonald's.

McD uses data to optimize its supply chain, maintaining inventory, etc but they dont usually use it for marketing and sales. Thus, if McD starts a loyalty program, or tracks the customers' preference of meal, it can be used to provide them customized offers.

For example, if someone more frequently buys a veg burger and McSwirl, then they can be targeted with an offer, that gives this, along with fries at a lower price. Thus, here customization is based on people's preference and consumption.

This data, which is stored globally can be used for purchase in any outlet. This way there would be more probability of them turning up.

As of now, there are no customized plans and offers for customers but after tracking data, their loyalty and frequency towards the brand can be increased.

For this, they can have a loyalty/membership card, that stores this information. Later this information can be used to send them promotional emails for offers and benefits.

A similar approach is used by Amazon eCommerce, in giving its customers customized offers based on their search.
