"Do you think that the general public thinks there is nothing wrong with receiving therapy? Or, do you think there is a social "stigma" attached to seeing a therapist?" (For instance, do all the recent commercials for drugs that treat depression and social phobias indicate that our society thinks it’s okay to ask for help in dealing with a mental/emotional illness?)

The society has come a long way in changing its perspective on mental disorders. While it was viewed as possessed by evil spirits and the curse of god by the religious people and religions earlier, today, with the advancement of science and the amount of information and awareness available for people, they see it as any other physical illness. However, they have a reservation in terms of living or connecting with people with mental disorders due to their unpredictable behaviours, unconnected from reality, lost in thoughts etc. Another major improvement in the society is the availability of counselling centers and therapists across the country which makes it easy for people with mental disorders to seek for help without much difficult. The continuous study on mental illnesses provide vital information to the public in terms of accepting people with mental disorders and provide help. So, in my opinion, the society is progressing on the right path.
