Answer #1

Given B is dominant over b .

A) cross between heterozygous brown rat( Bb) and white rat ( bb)

Parents Bb ×. bb

F1:- Bb. Bb. bb. bb.

So we obtain Bb :- 50% or 1/2 , phenotype :- coat colour brown.

And. bb :- 50% or 1/2 , phenotype:- coat colour white.

B)cross between heterozygous brown coat rat (Bb)

Parents. Bb. ×. Bb.

F1 offsprings :- BB. Bb. Bb. bb

So we have genotype BB :- 1/4 or 25%. genotype. Bb :- 2/4 or 50%. genotype. bb :- 1/4 or 25%

Phenotype brown is Given by BB, Bb genotype. And genotype bb gives white coat rat .

For brown coat colour BB is homozygous where as Bb is heterozygous . Out of three genotype which gives brown coat colour two are heterozygous , so the possibility that the brown offspring are heterozygous is 2/3 .

Please show how to works with type. Thank you. Gene Frequencies We will let p designate the frequency (=proportion) of gene B in a population, and we will let q designate the frequency of gene b. Since these are the only two alleles for that characteristic, then p + q = 1. (When all possible outcome frequencies are added, the sum of their frequencies must equal one (certainty)]. Now let us assume that completely random mating and offspring survival occurs...

Fur color in dogs can be black, brown or white. The B gene is responsible for fur color. Dogs that inherit a dominant B will have black fur. Dogs that inherit 2 recessive alleles, bb, will have brown color. There is a second gene that contributes to fur color in dogs: gene I. Individuals who inherit a dominant allele, I, at this location, will always have white color. Individuals who inherit the homozygous recessive condition, ii, will be able to...

Drosophila genetics hw. Can someone help explain this You are doing a genetics experiment with the fruit fly. In the "P" generation, you cross two true-breeding flies. The female parent is brown and wingless and the male parent is black with normal wings. All of the flies in the F1 generation are brown and have normal wings. Indicate the alleles associated with dominant phenotypes by uppercase letters and alleles associated with recessive phenotypes by lowercase letters. Assume the genes are...

In rabbits, there are many genes that control coat appearance. The EN gene controls whether the rabbits are solid or spotted. The C gene controls whether rabbits tend to be brown or grey. Suppose that goats have one gene that codes for color, where A is brown and a is white. The goats also have another gene that codes for height, where B is tall and b is short. If these two genes are unlinked, what is the probability that a cross between Aa Bb x Aa bb parents will produce two out of six offspring that are white and tall? Enter your answer as a decimal, rather than as a percentage. probability:...
