Hydrogen (H) is an important product for a large number of applications and can be produced by the following chemical reaction:

CO + H2O + CO2 + H2

In order to produce Hydrogen, a process is designed with the following configuration:

The feed to the reactor is made up of water and carbon monoxide (CO) in an unknown proportion. Once the reaction occurs, the effluent from the reactor, which has 3 mol% H2, passes through a separator from which two streams leave: 1) the product stream containing 48 mol% H2 and CO2 respectively and 4% of CO and 2) the recirculation stream that is composed of H2O and CO. The recirculation stream joins the fresh feed to the process (which only contains CO and H2O) and the mixture of these streams constitutes the feed to the reactor. Assume 100 moles of the product stream and use atomic balances to determine:

A. The composition of the fresh feed to the process.
B. The ratio of moles recirculated / mol H2 produced.

    7. A process takes hydrogen and nitrogen to make ammonia. It consists of a feed stream (Hz: 330 kmol/h and N2: 110 kmol/h), a mixer in which the feed stream is mixed with the recycle stream, and a reactor (25% conversion), followed by a separator where the product is removed and the reactants are recycled. Ethylene oxide is produced by the catalytic oxidation of ethylene: C2H4 (g) + 1/2 O2 (g) --> C2H4O (g) An undesired competing reaction is the combustion of ethylene to CO2. The feed to a reactor contains 2 mol C2H4/mol O2. The conversion and yield in the reactor are respectively 25% and 0.70 mol C2H4O produced/mol C2H4 consumed. A multiple-unit process separates the reactor outlet stream components: C2H4 and O2 are recycled to the reactor, C2H4O is sold, and CO2 and...

please answer all the questions thank you Acetic anhydride is a clear liquid with a pungent, penetrating, vinegar-like odor. The largest application of acetic anhydride is as a raw material in manufacturing cellulose acetate fibers and plastics. It is also used in the production of aspirin, acetaminophen and other pharmaceuticals manufacturing. In an intermediate step in the production of acetic anhydride, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide are reacted with hydrogen to make methanol according to the following balanced chemical equations:...
