In Gymnosperms the male cone produces the male gamates, pollengrains and the female cone produces female gamate, ovules through meiosis. The pollengrains are tranfererd to the ovule with the help of wind.

In Angiosperms, in the flower male reproductory organ stamen, produces male gamate called pollengrains and the female reproductive strucure pistil has ovary, which produces the female gamate ovule. The pollengrains are mostly transfered to the ovules through agents like animals, bees ,wind.

So, Angiosperms and Gymnosperms does not rely on water for pollination like other plant groups.
