Ans-27- If mannitol is fermented it produces acid which reacts with phenol red indicator to produce yellow color and if not fermented then the medium remains red. So this is mannitol which is getting metabolized.

Ans-28- Halophiles is the term used to describe the bacteria which can tolrate and grow at high salt concentration.
