Answer #1

Option C is the correct answer.

The membrane attack complex (MAC) is made up of four major complement proteins they are:

C5b, C6, C7, C8.

These proteins bind to the plasma membrane surface and also a fifth protein C9, many copies of this fifth protein hook up with one another this leads to the formation of a ring in the membrane.

The complement of membrane attack complex basically refers to the association of five complement proteins and they are:

C5b, C6, C7, C8 and C9. These five complement proteins form a potential cytolytic complex.

So, basically membrane attack complex (MAC) is generally made up of four proteins C5b, C6, C7 and C8 and the complement of the membrane attack complex refers to the association of five complement proteins C5b, C6, C7, C8 and C9. The correct option would be option C which is correct because Option D is complement (contributes to the extra features) of the membrane attack complex
