Answer #1

Answer : Phagocytosis is Powered by ATP driven pumps.

Explanation : When one cell engulfs another cell or cell debris, the process is known as phagocytosis. Special cells perform phagocytosis. The cell which perform phagocytosis is called as phagocyte. When the cell or cell debris bound to the receptor present on the surface of the phagocyte, the phagocyte runs a mechanism and stretches itself completely over the cell attached to its receptor. Then the engulfed cell is killed with completion of the phagocytosis. This entire process requires energy ( mostly the sliding of phagocyte over the engulfed cell attached to its receptor) which is derived from ATP.

Endocytosis is also an active process using energy of ATP and not a passive one.

FILL THE BLANK The membranes of fishes that live in extreme cold have a high proportion of _________________ hydrocarbon tails, enabling them to stay fluid. For example, cold-adapted organisms such as winter wheat increase the percentage of _________________ phospholipids in their membranes in the autumn to prevent the membranes from solidifying during winter. There are two major populations of membrane proteins: ___________ and _____________.Integral proteins penetrate the hydrophobic interior of the lipid bilayer, usually completely spanning the membrane as ________________ proteins.________________ proteins...
