Step 1: Find energy generated by water during fall:

Energy generated = change in potential energy

Q = m*g*h

Now same energy is used in increasing temperature of water, So we know that:

Q = m*C*dT

So,

m*g*h = m*C*dT

h = height of waterfall = 36 m

C = specific heat capacity of water = 4186 J/kg.C

So,

dT = g*h/C

dT = 9.81*36/4186

dT = max temperature increase of water = 0.0844 C
