Independent variable is the varible controlled or changed by the experimenter and is the cause for the dependent variable.

Here, Recess timing is changed by the experimenter.

2) Dependent variable : Time taken by the students to calm down.

change in recess timing causes change in time in calming down. that is; variation in independent varible causes change in dependent variable.

3) Measuring central tendencies can be used to analyse the data to find the difference in forst and second condition.

4)Yes, it is significant. Because in the experiments wherein the goal is to find out the difference, meansuring by using central tendencies is helpful to analyse data.
