y = 3t2

dy / dt = 6t

at t = 2 s,

y = 12 m

u = 12 m/s

so,

v = sqrt ( 122 + 2 * 10 * 12)

v = - 19.6 m/s ( answer to B - negative sign because velocity is downwards)

and

12 = 19.6 - 12 * t / 2

t = 3.15 seconds
