Finally, all those hours watching movies and TV are going to come in handy. After reading the chapter and listening to the lecture, find a scene either in a movie or from television that involves parties entering into an enforceable contract.

You should include a paragraph summary of the events and an explanation based in law as to why the contract would be enforceable. Additionally, you must include a cite to your source. (I want to watch your clips.)

Answer #1

An enforceable contract is a legally-binding mode of agreement between two or more parties. Both parties are fully expected to fulfill the regulations under the law or entire terms of the contract. Additionally, while the contracts can be verbal or written, verbal contracts are more difficult to enforce in the legal aspects than the written format.

Background

A scene in a movie that directly involves the parties entering into an enforceable contract is quite often while dealing or after the negotiation. The name of the movie is ‘Jobs’ released in 2013 worldwide. The movie is an American biographical drama film based on the incidences, or the life of Steve Jobs, from the timeline 1974 while a student at Reed College to the most inspiring introduction of the iPod in 2001, as a company like ‘Apple’.

Summary and Contract

The analysis from a movie clip explains, the two parties entering into an enforceable contract, one is Steve Jobs and the other is the shop owner, Paul Terrel (making a contract for the computers at a negotiable price and finally agreed on the terms). Steve negotiating with Paul to act as CEO of his startup, and Jobs actually wants money to start his business into the next phase. Then, Paul Terrel the computer shop owner agrees on the terms of potentially giving money to Steve Jobs and finally sells the job computer in his store.

In the movie scene, Jobs tried to connect with the Paul, and clearly maintain the contact and build trust in the right negotiation process. Jobs tried to give facts and hooked Paul in the conversation at the initial stages. Then, Jobs start to give Paul an offering, and Paul interested in the deal. Paul agreed to pay $400 for 50 units of computer, and the Jobs counter of Paul offers the double quantity and some money upfront ($400 for 100 units). In conclusion, the Job convinced Paul with his offer and finally get into the deal.

The consideration is open and available which both the parties agreed to sell and buy 100 units with the cost of $400 per unit in advance. The certainty of the contract is very clear when the right detain of the product and price was given during the conversation. Element of contract such as acceptance, offer, consideration, certainty, and create legal relation is available and it proves the contract is valid.
