The given species is classified under the thermoacidophilic bacteria . Thermoacidophilic bacteria have the ability to grow and divide at a very High temperature and very low pH. They can survive at a temperature of even 95°C and at a pH of even 1.3 .They are susceptible to both Heat and cold shock . The thermoacidophilic bacteria can be found in hot springs , deep sea in the benthic regions . Thermithiobaccilus tepidarius survive at the acidic pH .
They have certain metabolic enzymes which are active at a High temperature and low pH without any degradation in their structure . The other reasons responsible for the survival even in these conditions are due to the Horizontal gene transfer.
