It is very important for children to get positive responses as we know childrens are naughty and their behavior depend so much on how we respond to them. There are different results of the sayings if it is responded positively , they will do different thing and if it is responded negatively , they will do different thing.

If we are saying stop throwing the sand, we can say this in way that they feel it's a challenge for them like i know you can make something good of that sand and then they are going to accept it as challenge and they will be easily convinced for not throwing the sand.

If we have to say don't be so rough with that book! , these words very much feel like order and they are not going to keep it well so instead of that we can say i know you can keep this book in a good way, you are a good boy / girl. They will feel motivated to keep their things properly because they are getting positive responses and get the feeling that people think they can do it or carry things properly.

If we have to say don't throw toys, you can see this sentence seems like an order but we have to give them a positive response so we can give them challenge by saying decorate your room with toys and if it is decorated well . I'll give you a surprise. In this situation they will take it as challenge ang get motivated to decorate the room for getting surprise and then they will not throw their toys instead of that they'll carry their toys properly.
