The Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) model has been building, developed, and endorsed by the Supply–Chain Council (SCC) for the benefit as the cross-industry standard for supply chain management. SCOR is a management tool. It is a process reference model for supporting the supply-chain management, spanning from the route of the supplier's supplier to the customer's customer.

Timeline with Six SCOR Process

The SCOR model is completely based on the six distinct management processes such as plan, source, make, deliver, return, and enable. Through this model, it follows the process with all customer interactions, from the order entry through the paid invoice, all product (physical material, goods, and service) transactions, from the supplier's supplier to the last level of customer's customer, including the equipment, spare parts, supplies, bulk product, software, etc., and all the market interactions, from the understanding of direct aggregate demand to the fulfillment of each order in the process.

The process starts with the process leader (by Operations Lead, Nestle Global), the primary contact at supplier/customer (by Supplier Relation Manager, Musson Trading), and duration to implement the project. The process of producing the milk packets from the plant, and the final product have to reach the suppliers and distributed to the end consumers through the SCOR process, the company name is Nestle Global.

Plan

The demand, supply planning, and management are included in this first step. The major elements include balancing resources with the requirements and determining the complete communication along the entire chain. The plan also includes determining business rules or regulations to improve, monitor, and measure supply chain efficiency. These business rules can span inventory, transportation process, assets, and regulatory compliance, among other factors. The plan also aligns the entire supply chain with the company's financial plan.

Source

This next step describes the sourcing infrastructure and material acquisition required for the production and collection of milk from the sources. It describes how to manage the inventory, the supplier networks, supplier agreements, and supplier performances across the supply chain. It clearly discusses how to handle the supplier payments and when to receive, verify, and transfer the final product, here it is the pasteurized and processed milk.

Make

The next step is about manufacturing and production are the emphasis of this process. To answer the question, is the manufacturing process make-to-order, make-to-stock, or the engineer-to-order? The make step also includes production activities, packaging aspects, staging product, and releasing the final milk from the line. It also includes control or managing the production networks, equipment, facilities, and transportation.

Deliver

To deliver includes order management, warehousing norms, and transportation. It also includes the receiving orders from customers, suppliers, and invoicing them once the product has been received. This step involves the management of finished products, assets, transportation norms, product life cycles, and importing or exporting requirements of the company.

Return

The companies must be prepared to consider or handle the return of the containers, packaging, or defective product (milk products are so fragile and exposed to these aspects). The return involves the management of business rules, assets, return inventory, transportation, and regulatory requirements.

Enable

In the final step, enable processes to be directly associated with the management of the supply chain. These processes may include management of business rules, performance statistics, resources, data, facilities, supply chain network management, contracts, managing regulatory compliances, and risk management aspects of milk production.
