What skills does psychoanalytic orientation recommend you use to build rapport with your clients?
Psychoanalytic orientation requires to use the principles and techniques of Psychonanalyis.
A psychoanalyst can share a little about themselves in order to encourage the client to express themselves and then act as a blank canvas to let them the space to express their unconscious without any interference. The psychoanalyst can direct their attention towards the client and indulge in active listening and effective communication. The psychoanalyst should also have a good body posture and body language that shows that he/she is genuinely interested in helping the client resolve their conflicts, trauma, issues, repressed instincts, neurosis, etc.
The psychoanalyst should be completely non-judgmental as if the client gets even the slightest of idea that the psychoanalyst is judging them regarding their issues they would shut them off and not share the repressed memories, instincts, etc.
