in a population, there is a single-gene, autosomal recessive disease with 2 alleles, D and d. The disease is deadly and kills patients at an early age. Answer #1

Ans) Over time, natural selection will tend to reduce frequency of the d allele in the gene pool. But as this occurs a smaller fraction of d alleles will become hidden from selection in carriers.

Explaination:Natural selection negatively select d allele tha leads to decrease in frequency of d allele in gene pool. But recessive d allele never eliminated completely from population gene pool because small fraction of d allele remain hidden in heterozygotes or carriers(Dd) and become hidden from selection.

Which of the following statements regarding the Hardy-Weinberg Equation is TRUE? Answers: It can only be used when allele and genotype frequencies remain constant across generations in a population It can only be used when allele and genotype frequencies change across generations in a population It has no assumptions It mathematically shows how recessive alleles in a population decrease over time It reveals when allele frequencies change over time in a population Assuming Hardy-Weinberg Equilibrium, what percentage of individuals in...

QUESTION 2 Climate change is a threat to the existence of many species. Which of the following limits to natural selection hinders the adaptation of species to the new climate conditions? The developmental plans of plants and animals are too complex. They cannot cope with the warmer temperatures. Mutations happen so frequently that beneficial alleles change before natural selection can substantially increase their frequency Many species not have gene variants in their gene pool that are beneficial in higher temperatures. Climate change happens so...
