Then, at the welding machine, the unit spends 2 hours waiting in front of the welding machine for the batch to start, 1 hour waiting for the setup of the welding machine, 0.3 hours waiting for the other pieces of the batch to go through welding, 0.3 minute at the welding machine, and 2 hours waiting for the transfer to the next department.

Flow time
= (3 hrs + 1 hrs + 1 hrs + 3 hrs + 2 hrs + 1 hr + 0.3 hrs + 2 hrs)*60 + 1.30 min = 799.30 min


Value-added time
= 1 min + 0.30 min
= 1.30 min

Value percentage of flow time
= 1.30/(799.30)
= 0.001626
= 0.1626%
