Answer #1

D10 means 10 % particles passing from the D size sieve.

here given D10=1 mm, 10 % particles finer than 1 mm

D20=1.4 mm, 20 %particles finer than 1.4 mm

D30=1.4 mm, 20 %particles finer than 2 mm

D50=1.4 mm, 20 %particles finer than 3.5 mm

D60=1.4 mm, 20 %particles finer than 4.2 mm

D80=1.4 mm, 20 %particles finer than 7 mm

maximum 40% particles having size greater than 4.2 mm so we can say maximum percent of gravel = 40%

maximum 10 % particles having size less than 1 mm so we can say silt and clay fraction is less than 10%

from above two point we can say fraction of sand is at least 50 % or more than 50%

so soil is Sand.
