Answer #1

The purpose of inflammatory response is to localise and eliminate the injurious agents and also to remove damaged tissue components.From this mechanism the body begins to heal.

Relation between redness, edema and pain:

* First mast cells detect injury to nearby cells and release histamine which there by initiates inflammatory response.

* Histamine generally increases blood flow to the wound site and increases vascular permeability which allows fluids, proteins, phagocytes and other immune cells to enter into infected tissue.

* This results in reddening and swelling of injured site.

* This increases blood flow to the injured site and causes it to feel warm.

* There by inflammation also causes pain due to these events which stimulate nerve pain receptors in the tissue.

Sequence of events of inflammation:

It involves vascular and cellular events.

Vascular events involves:

*Vasodilation

* Increased vascular permeability

Cellular event involves:

* Migration

* Rolling

* Adhesion

* Diapedesis

* Chemotaxis

* Phagocytosis

* Killing

* Degradation.
