The best course of action while interacting with a person with a disability is to talk about them how they are doing. You can ask about their disability directly but it has to be in a polite manner like you have a concern about them and your concern is not out of pity. Therefore, the most accurate option is (C). All other options are not the most accurate. Talking to a companion instead of a person will be embarrassing for the person with a disability. Petting his animal to make it comfortable is a good option but certainly not the best option since person may not be having a pet and the pet may not be friendly with you in the first interaction. You should avoid making any common expression that might hurt the person with a disability.
