I want to synthesize alkyl bromide from aldehyde using mesyl chloride reaction.
Can you explain this mechanism in detail?
This is the Reaction Mechanism for Transformation of Aldehyde to Alkyl Bromide. The Aldehyde is first reduced to Alcohol by Sodium Borohydride. Then, Mesyl Chloride, along with Pyridine is introduced in the Reaction. It converts the Alcohol to the Mesylate Ester, which is a very good leaving group. The Br- then substitutes the Mesyl group by a SN2 Reaction, to give Alkyl Bromide. Alkyl Bromide remains in the Organic Layer, and Potassium Mesylate gets dissolved in Water.

Alkyl Bromide Alkyl Bromide Classification Base Base Classification | % Reaction | % 1-Substituted | % 2-Substituted Yield Alkene Alkene Alkene 90 1.0 M The data above is from a paper published in 1956 in a chemistry journal. Answer the following questions based on the data: 1. Draw the mechanism to show how each alkene product is formed from the alkyl bromide and the base. 2. What does Zaitsev's rule say about double-bonds that are formed in an elimination reaction?...
Draw structural formulas for an aldehyde or ketone and alkyl (or aryl) bromide that could be used in a Grignard synthesis of the alcohol shown. You do not have to consider stereochemistry. If there is more than one combination, draw only one. Draw one structure per sketcher. Add additional sketchers using the dropdown menu in the bottom right corner. Separate multiple reactants using the + sign from the dropdown menu. Draw structural formulas for an aldehyde or ketone and alkyl...
