A two-arm, randomized, double-blinded trial tested the efficacy of an experimental cancer treatment (Tx), in terms of tumor shrinkage (“response”). A total of 800 cancer patients were randomized either to Tx (n = 400) or to control (n = 400). At the end of a 2-year follow-up period, a total of 225 patients responded in the Tx group while 200 responded in the control group (56.25% vs. 50.00%, chi-square test p = 0.08).
1.Compute either the relative risk (RR) or the odds ratio (OR) to estimate the treatment effect of Tx.
2.Interpret the effect estimate and chi-square test p-value to briefly explain whether or not the study shows that Tx has an effect.

A randomized controlled trial examined the efficacy of adding a 4-week intensive and brief psychodynamic psychotherapy (IBPP) to treatment-as-usual (TAU) for inpatients with DSM-IV major depressive episode. Depression severity was evaluated by the Montgomery-Asberg Depression Rating Scale (MADRS) at baseline and post-treatment (week4). Treatment response was defined a priori as a reduction in symptom severity of 46% or higher of the baseline score. Chi-Squared test result for the effect of IBPP on treatment response is shown in the table below...

IMPORTANCE Clinical outcomes for glioblastoma remain poor. Treatment with immune checkpoint blockade has shown benefits in many cancer types. To our knowledge, data from a randomized phase 3 clinical trial evaluating a programmed death-1 (PD-1) inhibitor therapy for glioblastoma have not been reported. OBJECTIVE To determine whether single-agent PD-1 blockade with nivolumab...

Q: Compare the assumptions of physician-centered and
collaborative communication. How is the caregiver’s role different
in each model? How is the patient’s role different?
Answer: Physical-centered communication involves the specialists
taking control of the conversation. They decide on the topics of
discussion and when to end the process. The patient responds to the
issues raised by the caregiver and acts accordingly. On the other
hand, Collaborative communication involves a...
