A plasmid becomes a conjugative plasmid when it contains plasmids that are capable of transferring themselves to the other bacteria. F plasmid is an example of a conjugative plasmid where the male cell or the F+ cell that has the plasmid will replicate itself and transfer it to a F- or a female cell by the means of a pilus which is a long hollow tube that physically connects the two bacterial cells.
