Answer #1

a )

using equation

the electric field equation is E = k q / r2

= 9 x 109 x ( - 2.4 ) x 10-9 / 1.52

E = - 9.6 N/C

here the negative sign says that the electric field is radially inside.

b )

here in this condition a < r < b

so the electric field is 0 N/C.

c )

using equation

the electric field equation is E = k q / r2

q = q1 + q2

= 2.6 - 2.4

= 0.2 nC

= 9 x 109 x ( 0.2 ) x 10-9 / 2.52

E = 0.288 N/C

d )

q = - 2.4 nC

qinner = 2.4 nC

and

qouter = q - qinner

qouter = 2.6 - 2.4

qouter = 0.2 nC
