Goal 2: scientific inquiry and critical thinking

“The skills in this domain involve the development of scientific reasoning and problem solving, including effective research methods”

• Outcome 2.1. Students will use scientific reasoning to interpret psychological phenomena.
• Outcome 2.2. Students will demonstrate psychology information literacy.
• Outcome 2.3. Students will engage in innovative and integrative thinking and problem solving.
• Outcome 2.4. Students will interpret, design and conduct basic psychological research.

When it comes to the strongest and weakest area, I think my strongest area would be coming up innovative thinking and problem solving which is outcome 3. When it comes to the 1 outcome scientific reasoning and psychological phenomenon, it would require some work as scientific methods are usually used in research and data gathering and using various survey methods and calculating is not my strong suit as I don’t like math that much. When it comes to meeting of goals, I would have mastered all the goals with some exception in outcome one. When we talk about the importance of these skills in educational or undergraduate level, these are important skills as it would help any student to gain good marks in examination and in class, the learning experience would be smooth if you have good understanding of concepts. Also it will give better understanding of concepts and how we can apply it various situations in real life. When it comes to employment status having problem solving and innovative approach would result in better employment and carrier success. These are great outcomes and along with the skill to demonstrate and explain various concept to client in simple and easy manner. Furthermore if I wanted to conduct research or to pursue higher education, these outcomes would help a lot. As a strong base foundation would help any student in understanding concepts. Hence if any student can master all these outcomes he will do well as a therapist or as a student.
