David Foster Wallace's attempt at trapshooting did not go that well. His scores were significantly lower than others.
Trapshooting is a competitive organized activity. One shot was charged at $1 and had to be purchased in sets of ten. The other shooters did it with casual scorn and gained a score of 8 or more on 10. It was due to their military background and hunting experiences.
