The term abductor means that a muscle a) increases the angle at a joint b) produces a downward movement c) moves a part away from the midline of the body or a body part d) elevates a body part Matching 11. muscle of facial expression 12. muscle that moves the eyeball 13. muscle used in breathing 14. muscle that moves the arm 15. muscle that extends the crural region e) orbicularis oculi 16. muscle that plantar flexes the foot ab) deltoid a) diaphragm b) gastrocnemius c) vastus medialis d) lateral rectus Short answer: 17. Briefly list the characteristics of muscle tissue. 18. Name a muscle that abducts, flexes and extends the arm. 19. What muscle elevates the mandible? 20. This muscle originates on the sternum and clavicle and inserts on the mastoid process. 21. Name the muscle that originates on the occipital bone and inserts on the clavicle and scapula. 22. Answer #1

9 = (D) Geinoglossus muscle not associated with movement of eye ball.

The genioglossus muscle is one of the muscles in the mouth associated with the movement of tongue.

It is a fan-shaped extrinsic tongue muscle that originates within the median plane of the tongue and attaches to the oral surface of the mandible.

10 = (C) These are the muscle that causes movement away from the median plane of body. eg. Deltoid muscle of shoulder.

11 = Muscle of facial expression -: (e)Orbicularis oculi

12 = Muscle that move eyeball -: (d) Lateral rectus

13 = Muscle used in breathing -: (a) Diaphragm

14 = Muscle that move arm -: (ab) Deltoid

15 = Muscle that extend crucial region -:(b) Gastrocnemius

16 = Muscle that plantar flex the foot -: (c) Vastus medialis

17 = ● Excitability

● Conductivity

● Contractility

● Extensibility

18 =● Muscle that cause abduction of arm -: supraspinatus (initiates abduction - first 15°), deltoid (up to 90°), trapezius and serratus anterior.

● Muscle that cause Flexion of arm = Biceps brachii: The large muscle of the upper arm flexes the arm , turning the palm upward.

●Muscle that cause Extension of arm -:Triceps brachii, This muscle present at the back of the upper arm extends the arm and stabilizes the elbow when hand is used for fine movements.

19 = ● The masseter

● The temporalis

● The medial pterygoid

20 = Sternocleidomastoid muscle -: This deep muscle originates at the manubrium of the sternum and medial portion of the clavicle and inserts at the mastoid process of the temporal bone.

21 = Trapezius muscle -:It originates on the occipital bone, the ligamentum nuchae, and the spinous processes of T1–T12.

inserts on the lateral one -third of the clavicle, as well as the acromion and scapular spine of the scapula.
