Linear regression equation is : y = a + bx
where, x is independent variable
y is dependent variable
a is y-intercept
b is slope
To do linear regression in Excel, we have to use Analysis Toolpak
1. First step is to enable it, Go to File > Options
2. Then select Add-ins and check Excel Add-ins is selected in manage box and then click Go.
3. In Add-ins dialog box, select Analysis Toolpak and click Ok.
4. You will now notice a Data Analysis tool is added to the Data tab.
5. Now from Data tab, click Data Analysis from the Analysis Group.
6. Select Regression and then Ok.
7. In Regression dialog box, configure x and y ranges.
Y range will be your dependent variable and X range will be your independent variable.
8. click OK and you can observe the regression analysis output created by excel.

Questions 27-30: A prediction model for the selling price (in thousands) of a house is to be developed. It's believed that the selling price is influenced by the assessed values (X1. Assessed, in thousands) of the house, the amount of time it took house to sell (X2. Time, in months) and whether the house is a new house or an old house (K3, Ne...
Explain the elements of a regression equation for a simple linear regression: Y=b+mx. Why are regression analysis useful? Give an example.
What do we mean by “regression toward the mean?” A. The linear regression equation can be used to identify the average value of each variable in the model. B. Linear regression normalizes the scale of the variables so they have a mean of zero and standard deviation of 1. C. The phenomenon that if a variable is extreme on its first measurement, it will tend to be closer to the average on a second measurement. D. Outliers in the model...
Use linear regression to find the equation for the linear
function that best fits this data. Round both numbers to two
decimal places. Write your final answer in a form of an
equation....
