The stimulated emission of photons from the excited atoms in a gas laser is prompted by - nearby presence of photons of same wavelength as those emitted. Basic principal of working of laser is basically to excite the atoms to higher energy levels and then stimulate them with the help of photons of nearly same nergy to dexcite and emit a large flux of photons.
