Personal Benefits of Public Speaking

Public speaking is an art and accomplishing the art will lead to long-term success for every individual. Public speaking first helps you to overcome your fears and to make your points clear at public gatherings fearlessly. It ensures that you present your ideas and defend them effectively and efficiently. Public speaking is the key to come in the limelight be it at college events, political discussions, public forum or in the business when you are negotiating a sale. A good public speaker is seen with respect because he is able to express himself clearly and can articulate his ideas in detail. A good public speaker sees a positive impact on his career growth and he is seen as a go-getter and achiever. A good speaker can use his works to motivate and drive other which is useful throughout your career where you need to drive your team and inspire people. We can be inspired by great speakers like Steve Jobs in the business world, he used words to articulate his ideas and convince the world. The keynote address o\f 2011 is still quoted and requited. Similarly, many politicians like Obama could convince people because of being great orators.

To conclude public speaking will boost your career, help develop your personality and make you stand out at social dos and gatherings. Public speaking can be used in different aspects of life be it for convincing people, motivating others, amusing people at social gatherings or convincing others to see your viewpoint.

Overcoming the fear of public speaking

Fear of public speaking is a common form of anxiety. IT can cause panic and fear. If we can overcome by preparation and practice. The key factors to overcome the fear are first to know your topic and have full confidence that your facts are accurate. The confidence will give you the ability to speak about the topic and defend it too. You must be extremely organized and use visual tools to make your topic more interesting. The key to overcoming fear is to practice and practice more before appearing in public forums. It is an important visual impact of your speech and how you can be successful. Visualizing your success will give you confidence. The art of breathing and relating to the audience will help you to overcome the fear of public speaking. Well, known people like Abraham Lincoln and Mahatma Gandhi were afraid of speaking in public but overcame it over the years to became world-recognized leaders who are quoted and requited in history. Samuel Jackson had to visit a therapist to overcome his fear of public speaking. Rowan Atkinson is another actor who had public speaking issues but he became famous nonetheless.

The example of leaders and actors motivates me to push myself to overcome the fear of public speaking and to share my viewpoint with people across all forums with aplomb. The need to overcome fear either through training or by visiting a therapist is essential to move ahead in life.
